Revive Adserver is the open source ad server formerly known as OpenX Source



Revive Adserver is a free open source ad serving system that enables publishers, ad networks and advertisers to:

• Serve ads on websites, in apps, and in video players, and collect detailed statistics including impressions, clicks and conversions
• Manage campaigns for multiple advertisers and from ad networks all at once, via an easy to use interface
• Define rules for delivery of campaigns and ads, including frequency capping, URL targeting, geo-targeting
• Track and report campaign performance, including click-through rates, conversion rates, revenue, eCPM and conversion details, like basket value and number of items purchased

About Revive Adserver vs. OpenX Source

Revive Adserver is the successor for OpenX Source. Both application stem from the same origin, and Revive Adserver v3.0.x is completely compatible with OpenX Source. Please read the release notes for the version you are about to upgrade to, to fully understand the difference and changes.

Overview of steps in the Revive Adserver upgrade process

The upgrade process consists of two major parts: preparations and upgrade.

The preparations involve:

1.Uploading the files of the new software version in a new folder on the server
2.Creating a new database
3.Copying and adjusting the configuration file
4.Preventing the creating of backup tables
5.Setting file and folder permissions

The actual upgrade involves:

1.Copying the database
2.Running the upgrade wizard
3.Making the upgraded copy the live system



It is strongly recommend that you read the whole procedure carefully and completely before starting. That way, you will know what to expect and what tools and information you will need.

You might even want to consider to do a dry run of the upgrade on a staging server or test copy of your system.
